Water Usage
A $3.00 surcharge per thousand gallons of water used will be allocated to support community utilities, such as fire and rescue funding.
The project will utilize existing permitted water withdrawal permit. The intake structures are existing and no construction impacts to Sycamore Creek or the Roanoke/Staunton River are required.
Water Needs
Water used for cooling will be treated to ensure it is clean enough for reuse in the system.
The data center will require up to 2 million gallons of water per day for cooling at full buildout.
Water Supply Extension
The water supply will be extended approximately 20 miles from Hurt, with plans to avoid limited access portions of Route 29.
The supply will ensure safe, dependable access to water for areas like Motley and Sycamore, as well as fire protection along Route 29.
Excess supply will also support economic development in Gretna, Chatham, and the Route 29 Corridor, including the ODAC.
